7 Uses and Features of ABS
Author:
ABS referred to as propylene clear-butadiene-styrene copolymer resin, refers to the propylene (A), butadiene (B), styrene (S) composed of terpolymer and its modified resin. The plastic based on ABS resin is called ABS plastic. ABS not only has the excellent mechanical properties of toughness, hardness and balance of rigid phase, but also has the advantages of good chemical resistance, good dimensional stability, good surface gloss, easy coating and coloring. ABS not only the rapid growth of production and the emergence of a lot of excellent performance of modified varieties. ABS resins with different characteristics and uses can be prepared by changing a certain component or dosage of ABS. ABS plastics such as reinforcement, filling and flame retardant can be prepared by adding fibers, fillers and additives to ABS resins. By blending and modifying with other resins (such as PVC, PC, PSU, PUR, etc.), a variety of new blended polymer products with excellent performance can be prepared. ABS resins and plastics are developing towards high grade and high performance. The 7 major uses and features of ABS are as follows.

ABS resins and plastics are developing towards high grade and high performance. The 7 major uses and features of ABS are as follows.
One, use
1. In the electronics, telecommunications, and home appliance industries, it is widely used in TV sets, radios, tape recorders, washing machines, refrigerators, record players, telephones, computers, lamps, vacuum cleaners, electric fans, air conditioners and other housings and components;
2. In the light industry, textile and furniture industry, it is used to manufacture sewing machines, bicycles, light bicycles, looms, spinning machines, spindles, office supplies, photocopiers, cameras, clocks, musical instruments and other components; in the construction industry, it is used to manufacture plates and pipes; in agriculture, it is used to manufacture agricultural tools and sprinkler irrigation equipment; used in other industries to manufacture containers, boats, sporting goods, suitcases, heels, baby products, etc.; in the aviation industry to manufacture aircraft parts;
3. ABS has a wide range of uses. It is used in the machinery and instrument industries to manufacture gears, pump impellers, bearings, handles, pipes, motor shells, instrument shells, instrument panels, instrument boxes, water tank shells, battery tanks, cold storage and Refrigerator lining (cold-resistant grade), tank internal supplement, etc;
4. It can be used to make mudguards, armrests, hot air adjustment pipes, heaters, etc. in the automobile industry;
It also has important uses in military and defense facilities.
6,ABS plating after used to replace the metal, system nameplate, decorative pieces, etc.
7,ABS can be made of structural foam plastics, flame retardant plastics, reinforced plastics. It is blended with PVC, PUR, PC, PSU and so on to make polymer alloy with excellent performance.
2. features
1,ABS is an amorphous, opaque resin, generally light yellow pellets or beads. It has good comprehensive performance, is tough, hard, rigid thermoplastic engineering plastics. Acrylic eye gives ABS chemical resistance, oil resistance and certain rigidity and hardness;
2. Butadiene improves the toughness, impact resistance and cold resistance of ABS;
3. Styrene makes ABS have good dielectric properties and gloss, and good processing fluidity.
In addition, ABS is easy to process and shape. The melting temperature is 217~237 ℃, and the thermal decomposition temperature is more than 250 ℃. The molding shrinkage is small, and the product has good dimensional stability.
4,ABS non-toxic, tasteless, low water absorption. Easy to paint, dyeing, electroplating and other surface decoration.
5. The disadvantage of ABS is that it contains double bonds produced by butadiene, which has poor weather resistance. It is easy to age, discolor, and even crack when exposed to outdoor for a long time, thereby reducing the impact strength and toughness. ABS soluble in aldehydes, ketones, esters and chlorinated hydrocarbons, flammable, low thermal deformation temperature.
6. ABS burns slowly and continues to burn after leaving the fire. The flame is yellow and emits black smoke. After burning, it softens and burns, with special smell and no melt dripping.
7,ABS is an amorphous polymer, like polystyrene, has excellent processing properties. It can be injected, extruded, calendered, thermoformed, and can also be processed for secondary processing, such as machining, welding, bonding, painting, electroplating, etc. In terms of secondary processing, the surface of ABS is extremely easy to electroplate metal, and the adhesion between the coating and ABS is 10 to 100 times higher than other plastics, which is beautiful and can improve the weather resistance of ABS.
8, in addition, flame and ABS welding rod can be used for welding. Can use 10 S of methyl ethyl ketone solution bonding. Tubes may be formed by hot oil or hot air bending. The extruded or calendered sheet may be vacuum formed. In recent years, various cold-formed ABS have been developed. They can be cold-stamped like steel and aluminum, especially for large automotive parts.

PET is mainly used for fibers, and a small amount is used for films and engineering plastics. PET fiber is mainly used in the textile industry. PET film is mainly used for electrical insulation materials, such as capacitors, cable insulation, printed circuit wiring substrate, electrode slot insulation, etc. Another field of application for PET films is film bases and base tapes, such as motion picture films, X-ray films, audio tapes, electronic computer tapes, etc. PET film is also used in vacuum crossing aluminum into metallized film, such as gold and silver wire, micro capacitor film, etc. Another use of PET is blow molded products, polyester stretch bottles for packaging.
